I imagine...

I imagine this to be her view now...

My mother peacefully passed away at 2 p.m. on Monday, August 5; her bed surrounded by those who love her. The last words she heard were from her treasured books of poetry, and her arms were filled with the flowers we had brought her.

She gave us two deep sighs, then sailed away on poems and roses.

    1. Thank you. I am grateful everything happened when I got back from Chicago, and I could be here from the very second she needed me. I was there within minutes after the phone call, and my sister and I and brother were with her, so she was never alone. She died, with all of us around her. I am so grateful for that.

  18. I'm so sorry Alexandra. So much love for you, your boys, your family. You are an inspiration to all of us. The end of life is hard, so many of us just want to run away, but not you. You walked right into it, picked up your mom and carried her to the end. You are an inspiration for us to face each moment, find the joy, and carry those who need it. And now, in your grief, we hope to carry you.

What a beautiful way for your mom to part away.

Every post I read of you and your mom this past months have moved me. I know my relationship with my mother is the opposite you showed with yours, but every post I read here made me feel connected to mine and made me had a knot in my throat.

Lots of hugs and hope the pain subside fast.

    1. Nadia, any time you'd like to talk, I'll listen. Please remember, our relationship was one of knowing we had limited time together... that brings things to an urgency, and lots has to be let go, released, so we can concentrate on the little we have before us. Please do email me. xo
