It's Everywhere - Baby E Post

This week's Baby E post turned out to be such a sweet surprise of fun. Melt my heart and fill my eyes with hot tears fun.

There is a meme circulating that is truly original, and not a pain in the rectum with rules.Wombat Central (you'll love her) tagged me for this meme, and I am so grateful.

The meme is this: You ask your child to draw a picture of you. Wombat's take was HIGHlarious. Then post it on your blog.

Baby E's rendition of me, just left me verklempt. [Thank you, Wombat, for prompting such a magic moment]

"This is you, mama, because you're always laughing at what I say."

Oh, the heavens opened up and poured down upon me today. If this woman that is all head with an open laughing mouth will be his memory of me, then I have surpassed any ideals I had set for myself as a parent.

Never mind that my eyes aren't a hint of blue.
-----------------------------------------------------------------
*you should all try this. How your children draw you is so much more than just a physical representation*
**and no smart ass remarks to take away the beauty of this meme. you know who you are**

Here's what you do:
  • Ask your child to draw a picture of you. It doesn’t matter how old they are…
  • Post the picture on your blog
  • Call it the ‘This is Me Meme’
  • Go here and add your cartoon likeness to the linky.

  1. I guess as long as he says the mouth is from laughter and not non-stop blathering, then you're golden! ;-)

  2. You are truly joyful in this pic! These kind of portraits are so special giving us a glimpse at what is really important to our children! And you hairdo isn't half bad for a Monday morning! :)

  5. oh Baby E, that is one gorgeous pic of your mama!

I love seeing how our children see us, what they love about us unconditionally. This picture is frame worthy for sure. :)

  6. At first I thought the wide mouth was going to be because you talk a lot. Glad it was from laughter instead.

    I love the hair.

  7. p.s. I hope you appreciate that I didn't say the snarky thing I was planning on...

..you know, that obviously Baby E has noticed that you can't keep your lipstick in the confines of your lips.

    Astute kid!

  8. haha. totally love your picture e!!!

  9. This is so perfectly sweet, I almost can't stand it! You definitely have to hang the picture in a place where you'll see it every day.

  10. Oh, I love it! He's such an artist. I could think of waaaaaaaay less flattering portraits...some of which I've drawn about my own mother... ;)

  11. I love it! My mouth is always huge in Miss M.'s pictures, and my hair's a bird's nest. Adorable.

  14. what a wonderful picture, definitely agree with the other comments that it must be proudly displayed somewhere.

and would love to see the artistic renderings from your other kids, too!

  15. I love it! The fact that this is how he thinks of you is awesome.

    ReplyDelete
  16. I can't even imagine what my kids would come up with. I'll have to contact them and see. Awesome pic though.

  17. This needs to be framed!! And how lovely that Baby E chose your smile to be the focus!! Beautiful!

    ReplyDelete
  18. That is fantabulous! I doubt mine would remember me laughing, since it happens so seldom.

  19. I want Baby E to do one of me now!!

  22. Now I'm sure I'd recognize you if I ran into you in the supermarket or in a police line-up. Love it.

  23. Ive said it before, but the world is better with a health dose of Baby E. The eye color? Hilarious.

  24. How wonderful. I remember a card one of my kids made me in school that said in French that I was 'always smiling', which made me cry because at that point I felt like I was never smiling. I guess when my kids were around I was still smiling. I also remember a picture my friend's kid drew her. He came running and said "here Mommy. It's you. You're naked except for shoes." (just to lighten the mood).

  25. Since we don't have kids, I asked my cat Cinnamon if he would draw a picture of me. He looked at me like I was crazy and then started licking himself.

I know my mom is still proud of one drawing in particular that I made of her, because of how long I made her legs and how skinny she was.

  26. That? Is priceless.

Really. I love it. Another brilliant success by Baby E!

  27. I love it so much! I agree with the others, frame it. It will make you all melty and weepy every time you see it.

I want to go wake my 4 year old up right now and have her draw my picture!!

    ReplyDelete
  28. Wonderful! It's actually got a bit of 3D effect to it. And I love how your neck is in the grass and the top of your head is way up in the sky. If my cats could draw, I'd try the meme...

    ReplyDelete
  29. I am verklemtp right along with you! How flipping sweet is this? (It's because he's homeschooled isn't it?)

    ReplyDelete
  30. THAT. IS. AWESOME. My daughter has just started to draw as of two weeks ago. And when I say draw, I mean scribble between noshing on the crayons. I cannot WAIT to try this when she is a bit older.

And I love that Baby E see you as so friggin happy:)

    ReplyDelete
  31. I love this!!! My kids aren't quite here yet but maybe I will ask my oldest. We'll see what happens...
What a great way for your son to see you.

    ReplyDelete
  32. How sweet!

    *Sniff*

Baby E always knows how to tug at our heartstrings (I can hear you melting from here). Love this post so very much.

    ReplyDelete
  33. Oh now that is love. So sweet. xo

    ReplyDelete
  34. Oooh, my bitter black heart is feeling . . . something . . . like sweetness?

WHAT HAVE YOU DONE, BABY E?

    ReplyDelete
  35. I love the wide smile! How wonderful it is that you fill his world with laughter.

    ReplyDelete
  36. I just cannot tell you how much I love this...and what an awesome idea to have a chance to see yourself through the eyes of your lovely child.

    ReplyDelete
  37. I love this.I know this will be framed and hung in a place of honor.

Sage draws pictures of me all the time and I love all the details and reasons why she does things. Of course now I have an idea for a post for tomorrow.

    ReplyDelete
  38. Oh, this is fabulous! I'm afraid the pictures my kids would draw would feature me brandishing a paper towel tube and lightning bolts shooting out of my eyes.

    ;-) A.

    ReplyDelete
  39. Baby E, you sweet pea. Love the picture, love the kid, love the mom. Trifecta! Wouldn't it be cool to have him do one every year? I'm going to leave this post up so mine'll be tempted to take a shot at it. She makes eyes the same way, so I'll link up and let you see if she does one.

    ReplyDelete
  40. Baby E is an artiste! That's right, with an E on the end for Baby E.

    I love it.

My son told me today that I can't cut my hair because 'he needs it to suck his thumb and it makes him happy and it would hurt his feelings if I cut it."

    We're putty for these boys.

  41. I see you Alexandra, It is a perfect likeness. Baby E you caught your mums essence. We will definitely be working on posts this week. In fact I may have to show one of The Agronomist. Thanks for the idea.

  42. No smart ass remarks, no smart ass remarks...it's gonna kill me, but...
let me say this however, it is terrific that he thinks of you with your mouth open and laughing. My kids would draw me with mouth open too, only they'd say it was me yelling at them. I'll have to pass on this meme, I'm not emotionally equipped to handle the truth.
Always love Baby E's take on life!

    ReplyDelete
  43. Not you too! You know how I feel about this meme. Thank God you and Baby E are so adorable, otherwise I might be pissed. Since this is the best drawing ever, I'll let it slide. Well done, Baby E!

    ReplyDelete
  44. Love this!! I especially love Baby E's caption. This is how he remembers you, which is truly wonderful.

It's a brilliant idea for a meme - I will have to ask my son to do it!!!

  45. Amazing.

I had no idea you actually looked like Sid from "Ice Age."

    ReplyDelete
  46. Love it!

I might have to try this!

  47. I love it! If tori could draw me, I would totally do this. But right now, her repetoir is limited to snowmen.

  48. Oh this is too precious! I love you, BAby E! And I love you, sweet Empress!

    ReplyDelete
  49. I've finally found the Empress, courtesy of Partly Sunny, Chance of Rain. I must tell you, your reputation surely precedes you! Nothing but good things!

Still have a lot to catch up on your blog, but I came across this post, and I think it's brilliant! I will definitely ask my little girl to draw her mommy :)

Looking forward to reading more posts of yours.
